Requirements

The teacher candidate must have graduated from an approved teacher preparation program in the trade and industrial education program in building trades; or have been licensed or certified as a professional practitioner in the areas of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry.  The candidate must have at least two years or 4,000 clock hours of satisfactory occupational experience within the past five years in the teaching specialty for which they are seeking endorsement. The candidate must possess a journeyman card for Electricity and Plumbing and be willing to satisfy the OSHA requirement (completion of OSHA 510 and 500 training courses).


 
 
Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides quality standards-based instruction in the area of BUILDING TRADES; assesses and encourages student progress, manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement.


Building Trades I and II teaches students skills in the four core areas of residential construction: masonry, carpentry, electricity, and plumbing.
