  • High School diploma/GED required;
  • Must have 1-2 year’s successful experience as a driver and additional experience in an office environment highly preferred;
  • Extensive knowledge of School Bus Driver Training for Virginia and U.S. Department of Transportation information;
  • CDL Holder and Training Certification; 3rd Party Tester Certification recommended;
  • Sound decision making and organizational skills;
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and in database software;
  • Strong understanding of adult learning;
  • Understand marketing and branding our school division to recruit quality individuals to transport and care for our students; familiarity with talent management preferred;
  • Must have high level of professionalism in dealing with the public, school and transportation staff.


This position is primarily responsible for developing and presenting all facets of school bus driver training to include behind-the-wheel and classroom instruction and/or recruitment of bus drivers and aides and ensuring that they meet federal, state and local regulations and qualifications for operating a school bus.  Conducts and monitors safety program to include spot checks of drivers, annual local rodeo and various other safety initiatives with staff and students.   This position works a flexible schedule to include some evening and weekend hours.
